Every category of AI manufacturing tools

FactoryThink sorts AI tools for manufacturing by the job they do on a plant, so you can compare tools that solve the same problem. Each category page explains what that kind of tool does, what to check before buying, and lists the tools we have described.

Predictive maintenance and CMMS cover the maintenance side: sensors that warn of failing equipment, and the systems that turn warnings and schedules into work orders. Machine vision and inspection covers cameras and models that find defects on the line. Industrial IoT and data platforms cover the layer that collects machine data and gives it context, which most other projects depend on.

MES and production scheduling covers the systems that run orders on the floor, from full MES suites to manufacturing ERP for small shops. Supply chain and demand planning covers forecasting, inventory and S&OP. CAD, generative design and simulation covers engineering tools, including AI features that propose shapes or toolpaths. Work instructions and connected workers covers the apps operators use at the workstation.

Several categories overlap, and most plants use tools from more than one. A predictive maintenance alert often ends up as a work order in a CMMS, and quality data from an inspection camera may flow through an industrial data platform into MES. Each category page lists related categories so you can follow those links. Within a category, tools appear in our own editorial order, which is not a ranking, and sponsored placements, when sold, sit above that list with a clear label. Use the search page to find a tool by name or task across every category.

Every listing is written in our own words and links to the official site. We leave out prices and ratings, and we mark details we could not confirm as "not enough info". Paid placements are always labeled. If you make a tool that fits, you can submit it for a free listing.

Questions about FactoryThink

How are categories chosen?

Each category matches a job in a plant, such as maintenance, inspection or planning. A tool appears in the one category that fits its main job, even if it does more.

Which category should I start with?

Start with the problem you want to measure. Downtime points to predictive maintenance or CMMS, scrap to inspection or industrial data platforms, late orders to scheduling and planning.

Can I suggest a new category?

Yes. Email contact@factorythink.com with the category and a few tools that would belong in it. We add categories when at least three tools fit.
