LandingLens from Landing AI is a platform for building visual inspection models without a large data science team. Engineers upload images from the line, label defects, train a model and check its results in the browser. Trained models can run in the cloud or be deployed to edge devices near the line.
The approach suits defects that vary in appearance and are hard to catch with fixed rules. The hard part is the data: you need enough examples of each defect type, consistent labels agreed with your quality team, and images captured under the same lighting the line will use. Plan a pilot on one station, compare the model with human inspectors on the same parts, and decide in advance what accuracy and false-reject rate the line can accept.
